The facility was developed through a combination of voluntary support and fundraising within the local community and through the military personnel and contractors at Mount Pleasant. Significant support was donated by Defence Infrastructure Ltd operating for the British Forces South Atlantic Islands, and Stanley firm Morisson (Falklands) Ltd.

We rely on volunteers within the community to help care and rehabilitate oiled seabirds and rely on local fishing companies and the government fisheries department to assist with supplying fish when necessary.
